Senior Mental Health Clinician PECT (Permanent, Full-Time)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mental Health Clinician to join our multidisciplinary team at Gippsland to provide high-quality specialist mental health services. As a Senior Clinician in the Psychiatric Emergency Care Team (PECT), you will collaborate with the PECT Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist to deliver acute and urgent inpatient referral services, mental health, and police response. This is a leadership role, providing direction and support for team activities, workforce development, and clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction, and supervision for multi-disciplinary staff in service delivery to clients.
- Actively promote and implement the agreed model of care for the service.
- Take a leading role in recruitment, selection, and induction of staff.
- Deputise for the Manager as required.
- Lead inter-agency liaison activities within the region.
- Monitor and maintain clinical systems supporting service delivery.
- Provide frontline support to the Emergency Department (ED), including timely responses and advice to ED staff.
- Conduct assessments and collaborate on safety plans with consumers, carers, and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Apply current evidence-based interventions and collaborate with community organisations to meet client needs.
- Provide pharmacological and psychoeducation tailored to individual consumer needs.
- Ensure documentation complies with organisational guidelines.
- Participate in and provide clinical supervision for team members.

Key Selection Criteria:
Essential Qualifications/Registrations:
- Registered Nurse Division 1* or 3
- Degree in Occupational Therapy with current AHPRA registration
- Appropriate postgraduate qualification in Psychology with current AHPRA registration
- Degree or Diploma in Social Work with eligibility for AASW membership
- Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent, eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia
Essential Experience/Knowledge:
- Minimum 4 years post-registration experience in the mental health field
- Computer literacy skills
- Desirable: Experience in mental health triage or emergency psychiatry
- Desirable: Experience in a senior nursing position
- For Psychologists: APS accredited master's in clinical psychology or APS-determined equivalent
