Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse – Inpatient Mental Health Unit 
Location: Dubbo, New South Wales 
Contract Type: Full-Time Rotating Roster (Contract) 
Dates: ASAP for 12 weeks 

 

About the Role: 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient Mental Health Unit in Dubbo, New South Wales. This role involves providing high-quality mental health care to patients in a structured inpatient setting. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working to stabilise and support individuals with acute mental health conditions, ensuring their safety and promoting recovery. 

 

Weekly incentive bonus + weekly meal allowance + travel and accommodation provided  + Verus education allowance 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute mental health conditions in an inpatient unit. 
  • Conduct mental health assessments and contribute to the development and implementation of individual care plans. 
  • Administer medications, monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary. 
  • Engage in therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques as required. 
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care. 
  • Maintain clear and accurate patient records, ensuring adherence to mental health legislation and best practice standards. 
  • Support patients through their recovery journey and assist in discharge planning. 

Essential Criteria: 

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse. 
  • A minimum of 2 years' post-grad experience as a Registered Nurse working in mental health. 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in both inpatient and community settings. 
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive care plans. 
  • Experience in medication management and patient assessment. 
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and promoting independence in adults.
