Gilgandra Multipurpose Service (MPS) has 18 High level Residential Aged Care beds and 1 Respite Bed known as “Windmill Cottage”. The Acute care section can accommodate 12 inpatients at any time. This unit has beds designated for Palliative care and two Renal Chairs for Haemodialysis Care. The ED operates 24/7 and is attended by routine Visiting Medical offers and experienced registered Nurses. The MPS has a Medical Imaging Unit on site and the Central West NSW Ambulance Education Centre is also located on Campus. Gilgandra is fortunate to have two Dental Services WNSWLHD Dental Service and The Maven Dental care group.

The MPS has a Physiotherapy service 20 hrs a week that takes referrals from the acute section of the MPS and from the local community. Primary and Community Services Include: A range of integrated care services Gilgandra is located in the Central West of New South Wales approximately half way between Melbourne and Brisbane and 45 minutes north of the regional centre of Dubbo. Gilgandra has a population of 3129 people with 4309 living in Gilgandra Shire.

Gilgandra Shire is predominantly an agricultural area with sheep, beef cattle and winter cereal cropping the main enterprises. The local economy also relies on the business that the traffic on the Newell highway provides. We are an ideal place to stop on your journey with plenty of clean and affordable motels, caravan parks, pubs, clubs and cafes. The strength of Gilgandra is the people.
